I have a tremendous respect for those that have served in the military. I have never served. There has always a big part of me that wanted to. Due to health issues I had from early childhood I was not able to pass the physical. Many of my family members served. The fact is I have always wanted to do something to make up for my lack of service. Several years ago I saw a news clip of a group of motorcyclists, “bikers” if you will, that were attending funerals of fallen soldiers. They were there at the request of the families of the fallen. It seems that a “church group” was protesting at many of the funerals of those killed in action. The bikers were there to create a shield of love around the families. I felt a strong tug deep in my soul.
